Meet AFW passenger Susy. Since 2021, she’s flown to camp with the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation with the assistance of our incredible volunteer pilots. Below is a letter Susy’s mother Viviana wrote to AFW and our volunteer pilots expressing her gratitude for Susy’s annual flight to camp:

“I wanted to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible kindness AFW has shown by flying my daughter to her summer camps. Your generosity, your time, and your willingness to serve has made a beautiful difference in her life — and in ours as a family.
As a burn survivor, Susy has walked a path that requires courage every single day. These trips didn’t just take her to camp; they lifted her confidence, her independence, and her sense of possibility. Because of AFW, she’s experienced unforgettable adventures, learned new skills, and felt empowered in ways that truly matter.
You didn’t just give her a ride. You gave her freedom, joy, and memories she will carry with her for years. Your compassion has touched her heart and strengthened her spirit.
