About Angel Flight West
Organization Overview
Transportation challenges create one of the most daunting barriers to healthcare — a barrier second only to the cost. As a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization, Angel Flight West’s volunteer pilots fly people to their medical appointments at no cost to the passenger.
Angel Flight West has spent four decades — and provided more than 110,000 flights — creating pathways to healthcare across the western United States, arranging donated flights to people in need and providing them safe passage to and from medical care. On the ground, Earth Angels drive passengers from the airport to the medical facility, also free of cost.
Though we’re best known for linking passengers to valuable medical resources, we also provide transportation for other humanitarian purposes, such as individuals and families escaping domestic violence, disaster relief, therapeutic programs for veterans, children’s specialty camps, and partnering with service dog and search-and-rescue dog organizations to provide transport.

Featured Passenger Story
Meet AFW Passenger Stephanie
Receiving a life-changing medical diagnosis can tilt the world on its axis. Our passenger Stephanie knows this all too well following a diagnosis of breast cancer in 2025. “When I found out I’d have to travel to Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah every week for chemo, I instantly started stressing,” says Stephanie. “Six plus hours of driving for every infusion. The gas costs. The wear and tear on my car. Buying food on the road. Missing work. Driving in bad weather. And probably a dozen other things I hadn’t even thought of yet.”
When a social worker at Huntsman Cancer Institute informed Stephanie of Angel Flight West (AFW) as an alternative transportation option, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders: “A trip that would’ve taken me three hours to get there by car took me 45 minutes by plane. It’s just an incredible service!”
To date, Stephanie has been given 18 Angel Flights to ensure she has access to treatment. Of AFW’s volunteers and staff, Stephanie shares, “It’s incredible to see this village show up and take care of people they really don’t know. They are true angels on earth helping people.”
