For 17 years, Amelia’s sons, Jamisen and Cian, relied on AFW flights to access the specialized care they needed at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Amelia shares their story below, grateful that other families will continue to find hope and support through the gift of flight.
Amelia shares:
I remember the moment we heard about Angel Flight West (AFW) from Nurse Kathy at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. It was such a turning point for our family. Without AFW all of the amazing volunteers, we could not have gone to Jamisen and Cian’s eye specialist for so many years.
We have been blessed to fly in so many planes and meet so many amazing people. Some pilots have joked that Jamisen and I have more flight hours than most pilots. It has cultivated a lifelong love of flying.
Our last flight with AFW last spring was more emotional than we all anticipated. We were not prepared to be aged out of Children’s Hospital LA. It is sad to know we won’t be flying any longer, but we’re happy to know others will be able to.
We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts; you help turn a scary or sad situation into a bit of fun and peace of mind.
With all of our love and gratitude,
Kevin, Amelia, Jamisen, Cian, and Teagan
