My name is Manal, and I’ve had the privilege of interning at Angel Flight West this summer. It’s been a very rewarding experience, filled with learning opportunities that will significantly impact my professional growth. This internship has been an excellent opportunity to sharpen my marketing skills. I’ve learned the art of storytelling, and I’ve practiced crafting messages that resonate with different audiences through email marketing, media scheduling, and more. These skills will be invaluable as I advance in my career.
I joined the AFW team as a communications and marketing intern. My interest in the nonprofit sector motivated me to apply for this position. This internship has given me insight into the meaningful nonprofit work and helped me establish more career goals. I knew that many people in charitable organizations were extremely dedicated and passionate about those they help. However, joining AFW allowed me to witness firsthand the hard work and dedication required to operate a nonprofit. This experience allowed me to see the true impact of AFW’s mission.
During this internship, I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in on passenger and pilot interviews. Listening to passengers’ stories was incredibly powerful and gave me a deeper understanding of the impact AFW has on so many lives. I also enjoyed learning why the volunteer pilots dedicate their time and talent to organizations like AFW and I got the chance to recognize their hard work through social media posts. I was curious about how different departments operate within a nonprofit organization, so when the opportunity to attend an outreach meeting was presented to me, I was eager to participate. This experience offered me valuable insights into how AFW connects with other organizations and spreads its mission.
The all-staff meetings and volunteer town halls were another highlight of my time at AFW. These gatherings gave me a glimpse into the extensive effort that goes into every mission and how each department contributes to the organization. I gained a newfound appreciation for the teamwork and dedication that drives AFW.
As I wrap up my time at AFW, I am incredibly thankful for the experiences I’ve gained. My time with the organization has inspired how I advance in my career and motivated me to pursue meaningful work.
