For more than 40 years, Angel Flight West has helped thousands of people access life-changing medical care and other critical transportation. Thanks to volunteer pilots, we’ve arranged more than 110,000 donated flights — completely free of charge.

How It Works
- Check eligibility with our chatbot. It will walk you through a few simple questions to see if you or your patient may qualify for the program.
- Submit an online flight request. Anyone can request a flight on the patient’s behalf.
- Connect with our coordination team. A coordinator will reach out to confirm details and help schedule the trip.
Program Highlights
- All flights are completely free. There is never a cost to you or your family. Our volunteer pilots and commercial airline partners donate their services so you can focus on your health — not travel expenses.
- Request as many flights as needed. If you have ongoing treatment or multiple appointments, you may continue requesting flights as long as you remain eligible. We’re here to support you, whether it’s one trip or care over time.
- Flights are scheduled in advance. We thoughtfully coordinate each trip to ensure safety, availability, and a smooth experience. Advance planning also allows us to work with our commercial airline partners when appropriate.
- We provide non-emergency transportation. We are not an air ambulance and do not provide medical or mobility assistance, but we are proud to offer safe, compassionate transportation to help you reach the care you need.

Our family lives in Silt, Colorado, nearly 10 hours from the specialized care Eli receives at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Traveling that far for appointments was daunting, both physically and financially. After completing AFW’s online application, I got a call from their mission coordinators within 24 hours. I was so relieved to learn that we’d been approved and that we could begin flying right away. Since that first flight, the volunteer pilots and AFW team have been nothing short of incredible. Because of AFW, we’re able to get Eli to his medical appointments safely and without the stress of long, exhausting drives. The volunteers make us feel cared for, supported, and truly seen — like we’re part of their family.
